The National Association of Mold and Asbestos Inspectors (NAMAI) has given training scholarships to deserving individuals who would like to pursue a job as a mold or asbestos inspector. The NAMAI has been providing financial assistance to those wanting to improve their employment opportunities as part of their charity work.

NAMAI Executive Director Mike Adams says students and individuals should explore opportunities within the mold and asbestos inspection industry because it provides a stable income. “This annual project that we have launched almost 10 years ago has benefitted almost a hundred individuals already and this number continues to grow. And we as an organization we will continue doing this because we want to help those who help themselves, Adams says.

Six months ago, the NAMAI opened the scholarship grant contest by accepting scholarship applications. The grant was open to individuals aged 18 years old and up, and would like to pursue a career in the field. All they had to do is to write an essay detailing why they would like to be granted a scholarship and how it could help them. They would also have to submit documents that would prove that they have limited finances to undertake formal training and education as an Asbestos and Mold Inspector.

“Once they are done with the training, we at NAMAI will also help them obtain certification. It is an end-to end process really, and we even help them land jobs from our member companies. The 10 annual grantees are indeed in for a life change if they will also be diligent enough during their training and education process.”  explains Adams.
